Is it possible for someone to have 3 first dances?
Probably not. That would make them the first, second, and third dances....
Where I am going with this is I need to narrow down my choices for first dance song. I am having the hardest time choosing! So which one do you like the best/ think is the best fit?
Song number 1...
For YEARS (I'm talking since high school), I have been planning my first dance song to be 'So Simple' by Wideawake (song #1 below). The song is beautiful, and the lyrics are clearly 100% first dance material. The problem is that I was planning this to be the song well before I ever met Andrew, so I'm not sure that the song is really "ours." Here's a dialogue of ours from almost 2 years ago:
Were traveling home on I-75 from the SEC championship football game in Atlanta. We hadn't been together very long, but we knew even back then that we would eventually get married. It was just that kind of romance. ;O) Anyways, we had five hours in the car to introduce each other to all kinds of music. So I pulled 'So Simple' from my repertoire. He liked the song, and I told him I had always wanted it to be my first dance song at my wedding. So he replied, "so then it shall be our first dance song." And he went on to say something along the lines of any song that makes me that happy would clearly be the best choice.
Well now there are THREE songs that would make me happy, and I would love all of them as my first dance song.
So, onto Song number 2...
Andrew and I fell in love to the music of Jack's Mannequin. On a particularly special night (the night we first said 'I love you'), Jack's Mannequin song 'Rescued' became a key song in our relationship (see song #2 below). The lyrics do not necessarily resemble wedding music, but this song is really special to us.
Introducing Song number 3...
Over the summer, Coldplay released their new album "Death and All His Friends." Andrew and I both LOVE Coldplay, and we will be heading to their Orlando concert in just a few weeks! We have become particularly attached to Coldplay's 'Death and All His Friends' track (see Song #3 below). The entire Coldplay album reminds me of being in Alaska, where we got engaged. The lyrics even speak of getting married, which I just love!
Now onto the music...
SONG #1:
Since this clip has two different songs, start it at 2:40. That's when the 'So Simple' clip begins.
*Some key lyrics:*
Lots of time for learning
Gonna keep this candle burning
Day by day until we reach forever
This treasure we've been given
The song that we're singing
Will bind our dancing hearts together
All I am
My heart
My hands
All that I hope to become
There's no hiding 'cause we're uniting
All who we are as one
Well right here today til
When I'm old and gray
I just wanna be with you
With you
*And the very last two words of the song are 'I DO'*
Song #2:
This one displays the lyrics as the song plays.
Song #3:
This song is actually much longer, but this is the part we would be using as our first dance song.
*Some key lyrics:*
All winter, we got carried
Oh way over on the rooftops let's get married.
All summer we just hurried
so come over, just be patient, and don't worry.
Do you see the problem I am having here? All of these songs are so special and meaningful, and I just cannot choose!! The first song is the perfect wedding song, but the second and third songs are really specific to our relationship. So this is where you come in... which do you think is the best choice?
